    In your “How much public money is involved?” section you do the math between what the local campaigns got rebated vs. what the national party would have been rebated if they had claimed the costs, and conclude it wasn’t much (just over 100k).
    Thing is, though, because the national party was at their spending limit, they wouldn’t have been able to spend the money, ergo they would not have been rebated anything.
    So the public was on the hook for the full amount, no?

    Also, what is happening/will happen to the 60+ candidates who participated and then claimed the expense to to get a rebate? I understand they’re not getting their rebates (or is that still in court?) but could they all possibly be charged as well?
